5 Awesome Baby Essentials You Need
All you mama’s know you have your holy grail baby items that you rely on day in and day out. I have a few repeats from my first that I’m still obsessed with and using with my second baby. Plus a few favourites that I so wish I had known about the first time around lol.
I’m sharing a bunch of awesome things that we use every single day in our home. You have probably seen most of these items in the background of most of my Instagram pics, because they are seriously just used that much!
I’m obsessed with my new favourite baby skin care products Beauty from Bees. I can’t explain enough how amazing this whole line smells. It’s like vanilla cupcakes and my babies smell delicious afterwards. Everything is all natural, made from simple ingredients like shea butter, and healthy oils. My babies both suffered from eczema and it’s hard to find products that really work for them and don’t irritate their sensitive skin. Plus the bubble bath smells so yummy, and since my kids literally eat the bubbles during the whole bath time, I’m not so paranoid about what they’re ingesting lol (please tell me my kid’s aren’t the only ones who do this!).
Another favourite factor in buying from Beauty from Bees, is that they are basically local! They’re an Albertan company and who doesn’t love supporting small businesses and helping the bees to boot!
My favourite sound machine that I use with both kids is the Homedics Sound Spa. For us, a sound machine has been a necessity and I can’t imagine having them sleep without it. This is a winner; it’s small, compact, I can use batteries if needed plus the white noise setting is perfect (there’s a bunch of other options as well though like raindrops or lullabies). I picked it up for like $30 from Bed Bath and Beyond, but I’ve seen it in a ton of other stores.
The Jellycat stuffies, are super soft and cuddly. Both my kids were gifted one each from my Aunt and they are favourites in the stuffy pile, actually Lo sleeps with her bunny every night. She also received a fluffy unicorn stuffy from the Easter bunny this year.
They’re so cute!
The Dockatot is a product I’ve been meaning to write an in depth review since we started using it when M was a newborn. I’m am obsessed. My son literally never slept and was still waking up several times a night when he was over a year old. We were exhausted and I remember reading so many reviews on this product when I was pregnant with Lo (and my son was just over a year old). I decided to just buy and it and try it out because I had nothing to lose lol. I can’t say 100% if it was the Dockatot or not, but I will say the first 3 days Lo was home from the hospital, we didn’t use the Dockatot and she was up allllll night long. Then we set it up and that night she used it she slept through the night. I’m not even kidding. And she’s slept through the night almost every night since sooo… ya, like I said, obsessed. I will definitely share my full thoughts on it in an upcoming post!
I keep this Himilayan salt lamp on my nightstand and it was a lifesaver for late night feedings or changes. The soft red glow is super easy on the eyes and it illuminates enough light so you can still see. Plus, apparently salt lamps cleanse the air, are a mood booster and promote sleep. So if anything, there’s that haha.
